name: youtube-revenue-review
description: Review a monetized YouTube channel's earnings - estimated revenue against the previous period, RPM and CPM, which videos and countries earn most, and which videos get views but earn little - ending with what to do to earn more. Use when someone asks how much their channel makes, about RPM, revenue trends, or which videos make money. Needs the Caybl.ai connector (youtube_ tools) and a channel in the YouTube Partner Program; Google Analytics optional.

# YouTube revenue review
Uses the Caybl.ai connector. If its `youtube_` tools aren't available, tell the user to connect YouTube at https://caybl.ai/dashboard and stop. If more than one channel is connected, ask which one (pass it as `channel`). Use the user's currency if you know it (pass `currency`, e.g. "EUR"); otherwise USD.
## 1. Headline
Call `youtube_revenue` for the last 28 days. If it says the channel isn't monetized, or has no revenue in the period, say so plainly and stop - suggest the `youtube-channel-review` skill instead.
Lead with one sentence: estimated revenue vs the previous period, and RPM.
## 2. Trend
`youtube_performance_report` with `dimension: "month"`, metrics `estimatedRevenue`, `views` and `cpm` for the last 6-12 months. Is revenue moving with views (more audience) or with CPM (advertiser demand, often seasonal - Q4 is usually highest, January lowest)? Say which.
## 3. What earns
- From `youtube_revenue`, the top earning videos and their RPM.
- `youtube_top_videos` by views for the same period. Videos high on views but missing from the top earners have low RPM - usually Shorts, short videos with no mid-roll ads, or topics advertisers pay less for.
- `youtube_top_videos` with `by: "revenue"` (limit 25), matched against `youtube_list_videos` (`likelyShort`): how much of the revenue comes from Shorts vs long-form, and the RPM of each.
- `youtube_performance_report` with `dimension: "country"` and `estimatedRevenue`, `views` (limit 10): where the money comes from. A large audience in a low-RPM country explains a low overall RPM.
## 4. Optional: beyond AdSense
If Google Analytics is connected, check sessions and key events from YouTube (`sessionSource` contains "youtube"). Website sales or sign-ups from videos can be worth more than the ad revenue - mention it if so.
## 5. Report
Keep it short:
1. Headline (1-2 sentences)
2. Trend: monthly revenue, views and RPM table, and what's driving it
3. Top earners table (title, revenue, views, RPM)
4. Shorts vs long-form, and top countries
5. **How to earn more**: 2-3 concrete actions tied to the evidence (e.g. make more of the high-RPM topic, add mid-roll ads to videos over 8 minutes, point high-view low-RPM videos at a product or a longer video)
Say which date range and currency you used. Revenue is an estimate: YouTube finalises it after the month closes, and AdSense payments can differ. YouTube Analytics lags 2-3 days, so the period ends 3 days ago.
